Who is Abraham and Sarah?

W.A.L.T: Research information on who Abraham and Sarah is.

Dear Reader(s) the Religious Education task today in Lockdown learning is to find out who Abraham and Sarah is. I didn't know if we had to make a DLO so I wrote down some information. Hopefully there is enough.

According to the biblical account, Abram which means 'The Father or God Is Exalted', who is later named Abraham which means 'The Father of Many Nations', is a native of Ur in Mesopotamia. God spoke to Abraham, He told him to leave his own country and people and journey to an unspecific land, where he will become the founder of a new nation. Abraham is given a position of respect in three large world faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. (Fact: In Judaism, he is the founding father of the covenant, the special relationship between the Jewish people and God leading to the belief that the Jews are the chosen people of God.)

Sarah, who was firstly known as Sarai, in the Old Testament, was the wife of Abraham and mother of Isaac. Sarah was childless until she was 90 years old. God promised Abraham that she would be “a mother of nations” And that she would give brith to a son, but Sarah did not believe.

After Abrahams 100th Birthday, Sarah became pregnant with their son Isaac. And God said that Abraham and Sarah would have as many children as there are stars in the sky. So once Isaac had children they had children, then so on and so forth. Then along that line of children, their family tree was gifted with Jesus (God promised that Abraham would have the Saviour of the World in their family).

Abraham dies at the age of 175 and is buried next to Sarah in the cave of Machpelah. Sarah, having secured Isaac's position in the family. She plays no role in the near sacrifice of Isaac. She dies at the age of 127 in Hebron. Abraham buys his first real property in the land of Israel, the Cave of Machpelah, in order to bury her.

Hopefully there was enough Information in this Blog Post. Please leave comment(s) if I have done well or not well enough.
